This informal education program is designed to teach children fundamental culinary concepts through integrated literacy activities that focus on kitchen skills. In addition, this exciting research-based program is designed to support Common Core English Language Arts Standards.

Feed your club, community, country, and your world with monthly, hands-on research-based learning opportunities. Gardening to give features activities on gardening and growing, designed for all ages and experience levels. Working together, we can provide food for our loved ones, and donate to food pantries while engaging in this horticulture learning experience.

With an increased emphasis on STEM literacy among our youth, this program’s goal was to reach youth who might have an interest in food and nutrition with STEM education. Food and Nutrition is one of the most enrolled-in project areas in Iowa 4-H. Baking is a popular exhibit for 4-H members. The Clover Cookie Factory teaches youth the scientific method using experiments with different ingredients and that was met while talking about many types of foods.

The PowerPoint file is a corresponding quiz-style interactive game that accompanies the curriculum.

Today we are going to talk about food! The right food can fuel our bodies and give it energy to run, play and grow.

These On the Go Lessons can be used to create a "grab and go" style activity with supplies included. Add your local contact information, print, and cut each sheet in half. The left side can be used on the outside of the paper bag or box to identify the activity, and the right side can be placed in the package as an instruction sheet.

This project area will help you discover the science behind food and how it fuels our bodies. Challenge yourself to prepare flavor-filled recipes with a balanced diet while learning how ingredients work together through cooking methods and to prepare foods safely.

The Project Food, Land, and People: Resources for Learning is a collection of 55 Pre-K through 12th grade lesson plans for use in either a formal or non-formal education setting.

The curriculum educates students, teachers and citizens about the interrelationships between food, resources and people. It also contains background information for teacher preparation, lessons and hands-on activities reaching across multiple disciplines after having been developed, reviewed and tested by more than a thousand educators.

The Project Food, Land, and People: Eat Well Be Well consists of nine nutrition lessons. These hands-on lessons about nutrition offer critical-thinking activities, timely background information, measurable objectives, correlations to national core standards, and references that distinguish them in classrooms across America among materials used to teach about food production and consumption and natural resources.

The lessons can be incorporated in formal and non-formal teaching environments for grade levels Pre-K-12.

Growing in the Garden: Local Foods and Healthy Living is designed for youth gardening programs, community neighborhood gardens, farm to school programs, Ag in the Classroom and Master Gardening projects for grades 4-12. The curriculum is very adaptable to other ages as well.

The seven units address questions such as:

• Why do people garden?
• How do you plan, plant, maintain and harvest a garden?
• How do you store and prepare garden produce?
