Scouting 101: Corn and Soybean

Scouting 101: Corn and Soybean equips students, agricultural technicians, and crop production professionals with foundational skills needed for effective and efficient crop scouting. This self-paced, fully online certificate course prepares participants to support farm decision-making by evaluating crop health and correctly identifying insects, diseases, weeds, and disorders.

The course includes six instructional modules with written lessons, photo galleries, educational videos, and supplemental resources designed to help learners move at their own pace. Interactive knowledge checkpoints, virtual scouting scenarios, and written reports provide opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge.
Developed by the Crop Protection Network in collaboration with leading IPM specialists and university extension professionals, this course brings together national expertise in one easy-to-access learning experience.

Learners who pass the course will receive a certificate of completion, demonstrating their understanding of core crop scouting concepts and readiness to apply them in real-world agricultural settings.
